I'd like to say charming family of 6. Probably would be more appropriate to call it like I see it. I am the ring leader of my favorite circus and it's pretty much non-stop entertainment. If I can just stay awake so I don't miss it.

OSTRICH FESTIVAL
MARCH 9, 2013

Oliver, Marissa, Andrew and I take on the annual Ostrich Festival.

Catipillar rollercoaster, ball pit, spinning rides, slides, 2 kinds of fun houses.  I wouldn't let them go in the haunted house.  I had to sleep with them that night.

Giant pickles, ferris wheels, shark rides in real water which they were amazed by, and 2 versions of the slide.  Also the big swings but I was on that one with them so I didn't get a picture.
I alloted a few hours for the festival thinking they would be worn out by then.  We ended up playing for 5 hours and I had to drag them out.  We will have to plan more time next year.  We will also have to see the ostrich races and the petting zoo.  The rides were just to much fun this year.

PINEWOOD DERBY

The cheese car versus everything the other scouts have to throw at it.

Andrew and friends patiently waiting their turn.

Race, after race, after race, after race.....

We often had to find these to keep us busy while we waited.

The cheese car conquered all but one.  2nd place!! Go Andrew!!

For February 2013 some random pictures of the kids just being themselves.  Cute, adorable, and fun.

The Color Run
January 26, 2013

I posted an invite to all my facebook friends to come to Phoenix and run in the color run with me.  My friend Sharon accepted that challenge and I am so glad she did.  The color run is a 5K and they throw different colors of powder on you as you run by.  So you start out all clean and at the end your very colorful.  They call it the happiest 5K.  I admit I doubted it was going to be the "happiest" run when it started rainin the night before and rained all through the night and then all day.

We started with rain coats.

It's a little dreary out.  This is in the path of Phoenix Sky Harbor airport.  It is so cloudy that you can hear all the planes coming in and leaving but you can't see them.  They are typically so low in this area you can read the airline name on the side of the plane. The crowd wasn't letting it get them down.  It was chilly though and I am not afraid to admitt I was worried I was going to be cold the whole time.

Two colors down, raincoats are off.  We warmed up really fast and then the coats became a bit of a nuissance the rest of the time.  I definetly look wet.

We took one last picture under the bridge, right before the finish line.  We took it here so the camera wouldn't get wet in the rain.  Since it was STILL raining. The last station that we went to was blue and I kind of egged on the color thrower to hit me with her best shot.  Let's just say she didn't disappoint.  I had blue running down my arm and caked into my hair and all over my neck.

This was a lot of fun.  It would have been even more fun without all of the rain.

January 1, 2013

We celebrated New Years Day with a late breakfast at Denny's with the whole family.  We had a lot of fun.

January 7, 2013

With year around school we have long breaks.  We topped our winter break off with some cake pops and a movie sleepover in our ultimate fort.  I must say the idea for the fort turned out even better then I thought it would.  You could fit all 4 kids twin mattresses under it.

We tied some old sheets together and placed some removable hooks stuck to the wall. I tied all the sheets together with some old crappy ribbon that I would have never had a use for.  Now I am sure there is a much prettier way of doing this. I'm all about fast and efficient.  The kids love it and we actually can put ultimate fort up whenever we want.  We just left the hooks up and roll the whole mess of sheets into a ball and keep it in a cupboard until the next use.   We can take it down or put it up now in a couple of minutes.

My cake pops need some work.  They were delicious but a little on the ugly side.
Need to put a little more planning into them for next time.

We shall end this blog with some photos taken from a young budding photographer.  May you enjoy these pictures in a style all their own.

ADORABLE!!

 HAPPY NEW YEAR!  2013
The kids and I decorated and then dragged some mattresses down to the family room for a make it to midnight movie.
Oliver took a power nap to make it to midnight.

 Now for the count down....10......5...4..3..2..1....

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!
This is our first year throwing confetti.  The kids had a blast. They gathered it up and threw it over and over again. I tried to control the mess to some extent by throwing it on the tile by the front door.  Let it be known that you can't really "control" confetti.  Especially when you don't factor in static electricity.  I ended up doing lots of vacumming while the kids finished their movie.  I still have some up high on the wall but it was worth it.
